Our registered nurses coordinate the patient’s care and handle any nursing needs as they arise.  Our goal is to help prevent and relieve pain and other symptoms associated with the patient’s illness, and to teach caregivers ways to assist the patient such as medication dispensing, nutritional needs and/or limitations, safety issues, and comfort and support measures.  Your hospice nurse also ensures that necessary medical supplies and equipment are ordered, and consults with the hospice medical director and patient’s primary physician on a regular routine basis about the patient’s status and any condition changes.  As we keep the patient and caregivers informed about their care, we encourage our patients and caregivers to participate in the planning for the patient’s end of life care.
